I may unconsciously equate myself- physical appearance, experiences, and even my actions- to other individuals. I could be comparing my physical aspects to people of the same gender- continuously finding myself unequal.
This form of expression may always dwell within me but I can lessen the imbalanced mindset by discovering the roots of its cause- fear. My sexual abuse had occurred in a way for me to believe that I was ugly, less than, and generally not good enough.
I will be totally transparent this day in order to recognize that this self-doubt does not belong to me. My abuser(s) take ownership, guilt and shame. When I was sexually abused, my spiritual connection to inner joy, beauty, and insight was reduced to self-doubt, always seeking to be “hidden.”
Today I can discern my lack of confidence and acknowledge their source. It may be conducive to visualize the perceived outcome, returning the shame to my abusers and affirm my present gifts of beauty verbally.

I can be as talented, attractive, and/or intelligent as my mind sees fit, but if I continue to compare myself to other people out of self-doubt, I will neglect my authentic self. One day at a time, I can begin to let go of my feelings of unworthiness with observation, mind-altering affirmations, and embracing strengths gained through the courage it takes to heal.
I was created to experience a balance in life through my own differences, and will no longer doubt this precious gift of reassurance- this is who I am. |
