“I Can Grow from My Experiences” | Affirmations | for a Sexual Abuse Survivor | Pt 31
“Today I will strive to see my experiences in a positive light. They no longer need to be my enemies. Instead, I can see them as allies offering me opportunities to be released from the bondage of my past. I will discover that I can survive and even learn from them. I can use these experiences to help me reclaim yet another precious part of my authentic self.”

“I Can Grow from My Experiences”
By now I have a well-manufactured supply of unfavorable experiences that span possibly decades of my life. The inability to process these occurrences began as the effects of my abuse, carrying on long after the abuse ended. The numbing process throughout my life was once a survival tool and a normal way of reality for me.
I truly became hypnotized, recalling or freezing any hurtful feelings-especially those connected to the abusive or victimization experience. I willfully, and probably unconsciously avoided the memories imprinted in the vastness of my consciousness.
During a stage in my recovery process, I may have a collection of experiences which triggered emotions from the past. It may have felt uncomfortable, confusing, or even like insanity. Odors, sounds, and special days may trigger excessive thinking and emotions for me.
It’s possible that the experience was overwhelming, it will pass. Each time that I will courage to embrace and change traumatic experiences, I will be embarking on the gifts of growth and healing. By confronting past experiences, I can release them and develop more nurturing ones.
No matter where you are right now on your journey as a sexual abuse survivor, remember that there is more to you than what the eye may perceive of the self at this time. You are a Survivor-Stay in action on your healing journey every day and meditate on these concepts, “I Can Grow from My Experiences.”
Visualize the Affirmation, see it in color or as shaded black and white, however, the mind perceives it, allow for the current response to form naturally. Listen to yourself without judgment and begin to frequently journal this process as you transition the mind to higher knowledge of yourself.
