Let’s Begin with the Affirmation for Week 28 !
“Today I Embrace My Talents”
Every time that someone gives a praise or acknowledges one of my talents, I may discover myself wanting to downgrade the comment. I may feel uneasy, anxious, shame, pain, or fear.
Instead of harboring those emotions, I need to accept that all these feelings are normal and completely okay, given my history of abuse. As a little girl, my guardians were not able to recognize my talents and may have consciously done their best to suppress any recognition of my positive contributions in life.
This is exactly how my abusers were able to ensure that I experience the continuance state of detriment to carry their shame. Indeed, I was a prisoner in my own mind and body.
Today I am aware and can see my talents. I will experience my emotions with a greater understanding and return those that do not belong to me, but to the rightful owners. In this way, I can begin to reclaim my natural brilliance.
I deserve to feel gratitude and self-regard from what I was born with, holistically. I can embrace all that is one-of-a-kind and uniquely instilled within me. This may be a gradual process, and I will be aware throughout, knowing that there will be static before love and acceptance can be felt.
